Graffiti Hurts
Graffiti Hurts is a program from Keep America Beautiful and is taught in the sixth grade. The Graffiti HurtsŪ Program is dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful effects of graffiti vandalism on communities.

At the heart of the Graffiti HurtsŪ Program are four goals:

  1. Educate citizens about the importance of graffiti prevention and abatement.
  2. Provide communities with tools and resources to respond to graffiti vandalism.
  3. Help foster partnerships that will encourage involvement from all members of the community in addressing graffiti vandalism.
  4. Help communities establish anti-graffiti programs that get results, creating healthier, safer, and more livable communities.

Waste In Place
Keep America Beautiful educational resources for teachers and their students provide a balanced perspective of waste and the options for its management in clear and user-friendly formats.

The classroom curriculum supplement Waste in Place, for grades K-6, builds critical thinking, processing, and problem-solving skills through imaginative, hands-on lessons. Lessons can be taught individually or in sequence. The curriculum supplement contains 33 lesson plans on many diverse subjects, including litter prevention, waste reduction, recycling, landfills, and much more.

Keep Athens Beautiful hosted a Waste In Place workshop for Athens ISD in June 2007 (see photo).

Little People's Litter Party
The Little People's Litter Party is held each year in the spring at the Annex for Pre-K students. KAB Volunteers perform skits about the different types of litter bugs. Afterward, the children get to pick up trash which has been scattered around the area for that purpose.
